Xavier Peoples, founder and creator of the HBCU Change app, has a passion for HBCUs and wanted to make it easier for HBCU alumni and supporters to give back. HBCU Change collects change from users’ everyday credit or debit card purchases, rounding up to the nearest dollar. Each month, the app donates the change to the schools users choose. It also keeps track of user donations for tax purposes, for philanthropy made easy. For now the app is servicing Fort Valley, Alabama State, Florida A&M, Morris Brown, Clark Atlanta University, with more HBCUs to be added soon.
